extant textile belt fragment

This belt fragment survived between two copper alloy sheets formed strap-end . Unfortunately the examination couldn't decide that textile was animal (wool, silk) or vegetable (linen) in nature. The textile fragment is about 15mm wide. It's dated from 14th cent.

Late medieval cushion project-part 1

I found very simple embroidery pattern and I think that this is good for me as a beginner:) Because I need cushion not pillow I decided to start with wool and make cushion to be strong enough to sit on it. This iconographic source above is dated c. 1470.

woolen belt

Tablet weaving woolen belt-voila! (above my inspiration: Swedish St. Anna's figure from St. Anna's altar, Gotland, 1420, http://www.historiska.se/).
Belt is quite long (approx. 2m) and just 1.2 cm wide. I made them using 6 wooden tablets. Now, I must buy copper alloy trapezoid buckle and make buckle plate and strap end.

Now, I'm thinking about work with silk:)

na poczatek...

Ten blog ma byc o moich malych namietnosciach.
Bedzie o tkaniu, krosnie tabliczkowym (tablet weaving loom), tasiemkach i sznureczkach.
